Excited to say I’m back the hobby after a few year hiatus! My build is going to be a 50 gal hex reef. Hate to be trendy, but going the zoa garden route. Mostly for color, but low profile corals will allow for more fish which my boys will like. I considered doing a mushroom garden with an octopus, but ultimately determined the octopus may be a bit boring for my boys (2,4, & 6). 6 wanted a whale shark, but they already eat as much as one and don’t know I could afford the extra groceries. I’m looking forward to the project, which will entail cleaning, stripping, and resealing the tank; drilling and adding an overflow, plumbing the sump; and of course a nice aqua scale. I hope to post updates as often as able, but you can also see the build on instagram @because_im_the_dad. Also, thanks to all those who helped me with a few preliminary questions, while navigating my way back into the hobby.
