Back in the hobby after 5 years

Just started my new nano reef tank 2 days ago. I'm so excited to be back! I have a IM AIO 10 gal. Here are a few pics.. sorry not the best pics. Will be posting progress..

My return pump just made a weird noise and smoke or something come out! What do I do?? Pump is still workinh

Nothing in the tank yet.. just finished cycle and was going to do a water change.. and get first inhabitants tomorrow.. but don't know now.. do I do a 100% WC now ?? It did have a burnt motor smell. But pump is still working

Did you unplug and check the cord? IMO if submerged pump, the smoke would have come from the cord. I've not seen smoke come out of the water. If it is an external pump, yes I could understand seeing smoke from it which again IMO would not be good.
