Hello all, new member here and recently back in to the hobby. I previously had a pretty basic 30 gal set up, with mostly fish and a couple corals really just zoa’s, mushrooms and one brain coral. I had that tank initially in my early 20’s and kept it up and running and eventually well established for about 5 years until I had disassembled as a result of a move with less space.
Fast forward another 5 years or so, and now I am finally well established in my new house (well moved a year ago) which is permanent and finally got in to the game. I didnt want to start another tank unless I was in a permanent home.
Long story short, i ordered a 40 breeder CVUE, but lfs talked me into a red sea max e 170 (im very glad he did). At the end of the day it saved me money with lighting, skimmer, power etc and is a very nice set up.
It has now been set up for a little more than a month, I have 45 lbs of live rock, tank has cycled, small clean up crew and new this week are 2 baby clownfish.
I will say, this is a huge step up from my 29 gal with T5’s it is absolutely beautiful. The red sea max e 170 is a very well thought out system. Expensive but again worth it.
My main question for today’s introductory post is for ATO’s that will fit and perform reliably in the rear sump as this goes through about a half gal per day.. something I did not experience with my previous closed top system. I was looking at the tunze 3155. However reading reviews on amazon it looks like many people are having sensor issues.
Is this more likely a user error or upkeep issue? Or is there a better system out there.
Thanks in advance! Very happy to be back!!

Welcome back to reefing! I currently use the Tunze 3155 on two of my reef tanks, I have never had an issue. I have had issues with the Tunze 3152 Nano but I think those where caused by myself, Not having a large enough ATO top off container and a bit of lack of maintenance.
Hope this helps
