Slowly dipping my toe back into the hobby. been mostly out of it for a few years now.
I have a little BC8 on my desk at work. houses a clam and a couple corals and jeff the clown.
Just got talked into setting up a tank at the house. Went with a 40B. drilled it myself. picked up a sump/stand/skimmer from someone local. Going with all DC pumps this time. I can't believe how quiet they are. Still using my old 48" quad T5, but the LED light is getting built as we speak. Will be a Rapid LED 6x20 Corona Style Heatsink with custom color's.
Sump itself will be bare bottom, simple design. 7" filter sock (plastic insert filled with poly) Middle section for skimmer and reactor (whenever i decide what to put in it and actually set it up) foam bubble trap and return section. Fuge is actually a large hang on back that has been grafted to the front of the sump. Ball valve controls flow and gravity returns right into the sump return section.
Fuge will house 4-5" fine sand with some macro. most likely lit on reverse cycle to control pH.
