Hi all,

I'm fairly new to the hobby & have concerns If loose power or need to turn off return pump, of back syphoning. I'm getting 50 gallon innovative marine INT with 18 gallon sump. What is the easiest way to prevent this?

Thanks in advance.

make sure your sump can handle the siphoned water. even check valves can fail and better be safe than sorry and make sure you leave enough space for siphoned water.

you can also raise the output up higher if you are using loc-line

Where your return enters the tank just under the water...drill a hole...or two, that will create a siphon break when the pump shuts off allowing air to feed in. You do have to clean out the hole once in awhile.

I have a siphon break drilled in my loc line just below water level. Also using RFGs and they will start to draw air in through the top before the level drops below the nozzles
