I'm going to start dosing kalkwasser again.

I'll be dosing about 1 gallon per day, about 50% of my evaporation.

I'm going to dose out of a separate Kalk reservoir.

Looking for pump recommendations.

I was considering

1. BRS Continuous Dosing Pump with a separate timer.
2. Toms Aqualifter with a separate timer.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Doesn't look like this is a very popular topic.

Guess we are on our own.
I think any peristaltic pump could do it. Kamoer x1 is tidy, small, WiFi controlled and cheap. I’m using one as a top off.

I’ll be running a kalk reactor on my next tank and can’t settle on a pump to use. My gut tells me peristaltic pump to avoid back siphon from the reactor. Don’t want something that’ll cost $600 just to run kalk, but also want something that won’t crap out in a year from dosing 1/2 gallon a day. Liter meter seems a good option. But they’ve been out of stock for months and months

Cheap? aren't they like $300?

The fx-stp is the $300 one and it’s rated for continuous duty. The x1 is the smaller one for intermittent duty. I’m just concerned such a tiny pump won’t be able to supply that much volume

Hey thanks for the tip. I guess I overlooked that one. Truth be told, call me old-fashioned but I really don't need WiFi on my dosing pump and another app on my phone. I'm still leaning towards the BRS Continuous duty pump for $79. Maybe I'll pick one up on Black Friday.

Mine does 1.5 Ltrs /day in 5 bursts of 300mls (ish). It’s only been running for 3 months though so I don’t know how reliable they are in the long run. At £60 a pop, I thought I would give it a go.

I have used a brs 50ml/min pump on timer for quite a few years now with kalk (well timer and now apex). Currently I have to dose every 30 min.

Yeah, it seems like a reasonable option. Right tool for the right job as they love to say at BRS.

It sounds like it's probably working within it's proper range. I think I'd start dosing Kalkwasser around 4 ltrs/day and maybe go up a but from there.
