Hello everyone!

So, I set my tank last Friday night and it's now doing the cycle. Should I run the skimmer during this period or not?
I've read contradictory opinions, so... I don't know what to do.

What do you suggest?

Thank you very much!

I personally like to run everything during the cycle, to make sure I get the hang of how things operate. You probably won't get much skimmate, but at least you can start breaking the skimmer in. In addition, it provides a lot of oxygen in the water.

Thank you for your answer. I had the same idea...
The skimmer is so noisy! :( I hope it will get a bit better after breaking.
i'm still not sure how to operate it, but I think it has to be bubbly so something comes to the top cup, right? I tried all positions with the valve and still it won't skim anything. I guess it's because there isn't much to skim anyway, no?

Yeah, you won't get the foam that normally is produced by a working skimmer....just try to adjust the water level until it is at about the bottom of the skimmer cup and let it break in. With a new tank, there is nothing to skim.
