Girlfriend bought this and I used it on a lark, thinking it was adhesive. Well, it's not.

Some sort of oil based product. Got the background on perfect after 2 hours of rubbing out the bubbles. Ducktaped the top and sides to prevent water running behind.

What should I do with this? Don't think I could stand bare back.....

Paint the back with acrylic paint is what I did. Water can't get behind it and if it needs to come off a razor blade will get it. Not sure it would be an easy task at this point though.

Ya, I think paint is going to be the only option now. Have about 5.5" clearance on the back, so I should be able to get a paint roller back in there. Biggest problem now is how to remove the oil residue so the paint will stick.

Oil came off alright with dish soap and hot water. So tough to get to the far side of the overflow box, but I'd give it a B+ for cleaning.

Just waiting for someone to stop by and be conscripted into helping me get the last of the paper up around the overflow, then ready to paint. Never before been glad for that week I spent in the paint prep department so many years ago lol

Aahhhh no on paint, sorry guys but the idea of using a razor blade to tediously scrape off paint without scratching glass I'm not sold on. What I use an recommend is PlastiCoat it is a rubberized coating that comes in both aerosol and a little can of brush on I think that is called Plastidip either one goes on thick , seals, dries like normal paint with a rubber feel and the best part it easily peels off when selling tank or changing it up. I've used it on 4 of my tanks now. The brush on plasti dip I've used when the tank is already up an running.
