Backup Battery Design For my Reef Tank

Like to build up backup Battery System for my 5.5 footer.
This backup will only power one Eheim 1264 return which is rated at 240 VAC 100watt
and 4 jebao ow 40 wavemakers.
Each jebao ow 40 is rated at 240 vac at the controller side. The wavemaker is dc and connect to the controller.
What external battery power backup I need.
Can the battery be charge up by solar panel?
If can what size solar I need to get and what inverter size I need.

The first thing you need to do is figure out how long you want to power the system. I calculated mine at the expectation I would run at 50% power. That will let you add up how many watt hours you will consume (40watt system running at 100% for 1he would be 40 watt hours) .

you won’t backup every pump just the wave makers and the backup will be on the dc side.

you can build a solar generator (check out my build log) by using a solar controller or purchase a comercial system. This would take a power brick or a solar panel as an input (replacing the controllers regular power brick). dont expect to be able to run I definitely on solar though. You would need a very large panel and battery. These systems typically are designed for no more than 5 days (bra tested one for 80hrs at 20% power

I can (and have) run for a few days on mine. Best test was I lost power for the day with high winds while I was working

One note, if you go the ups route. Ups systems with an inverter will only last a few hours . The inverter itself consumes most of the battery making ac power at the wattage it

So far the longest power failure I had experience is around 12 hours.
So building a system that can last 24 hours is my goal.
So if I want to run a 240vac 100 watt Eheim pump and 4 Jebao ow 40 which is 40 watt 24 vdc .
What is the total watt hour per hour in this case?
Is it better if I remove the AC pump ? If it is then again what is the total watt per hour just for the 4 jeabao wavemaker?
So for 24 hours backup I multiply the per total watt hour by 24?
 
I would write off battery backup for the 100 Watt AC pump, 100 watts x 24hrs would be 2400 Watt hours and a UPS type system with an DC to AC inverter to power it for 24hrs would probably exceed the cost of a small generator. If you have a large tank and felt that running your AC pump was the best solution for your tank, then a generator would likely be a good route.

Alternatively you can get a Deep cycle battery and buy and inverter to power them, the negative (like the generator) is you need to hook it up in a power outage (not standby power)

Other options are replacing the Jebo controllers with a coralview pump controller (they fit lots of pumps but not sure if they fit jebos). Those controllers have a battery backup option. Ecotech has a full solution for their pumps but would require replacing the jebos with theirs. (the plus is you can get 80hrs with them ).
