Just wanted to ask and see how far people are willing to go to prevent equipment failures from crashing their tanks, and at what point it becomes no longer worth it? What are major points of failure in equipment that should be made redundant or otherwise have some sort of failsafe plan?
The big three I am aware of are:
Heaters failing on and making expensive fish soup. I've heard of two solutions, running two undersized heaters and/or using a separate temperature controller. Which one, or both is preferred or recommended?
Power Outage. Not a common occurrence in my area but it has happened. Usually not more than a few hours. Battery operated air pumps, powerheads on UPS, generators, large battery banks. In my case. Who uses what, for what equipment?
Stray Voltage. Not a common thing it seems, but I have read it can nuke tanks, and I already had one heater leak some volts and give me a not so friendly tingle. Any real way to prevent this, other than buying quality equipment and maintaining it well?
