Not important, but I am a little curious if there is a rough, ballpark way to estimate daily dkh consumption based off of magnesium dosing? Back when I was running two part, I always knew what my daily dkh consumption was as I could just enter my Alk dosage into a calculator if I was curious. I switched to a calcium reactor and limewater awhile back, and while I have bumped up my effluent dosing as things have progressed, I have no clue what my daily consumption is currently. It doesn’t really matter, and not really needed, just a curiosity I’ve been having. I’m not curious enough to stop dosing for a day to see where it lands as I was as I don’t want to let it drop. Basically I have roughly 160 gallons of water volume (accounting for rock and such) and am dosing 90ml of magnesium a day to keep it maintained.

No, the range of relative consumption is too large.

Heres typical:

2.8 dKH alk
18-20 ppm calcium
Near 0 to 2 ppm magnesium

Coralline deposits high magnesium calcite instead of aragonite and it’s at the high end. Many hard corals are much lower.

Thank you Randy!
