Bacteria Bloom?

Now I just clean my power heads skimmer cap and changed my Sump Socks... And it got cloudier... I mean.. Should I maybe drop some carbon bags into the Sump socks? Also I put 4 caps of fuel in once a week. Which is recommended dose for 180 Gal. It's freakin me out... I've lost 2 across and half a Monticap...

To the OP, did your cloudy tank clear itself up? I also had a cloudy (white) tank toward the end of my cycle. Even after a 90% water change at the end of my cycle to get nitrates down, the tank immediately got cloudy. I was using ammonia to cycle the tank so I think whatever was left on my Pukani dry rock must have been the source for the bacteria bloom (even tho I acid washed and let cook for 3 months in heated saltwater in a 75 gallon tub)? Anyway, I was close to buying a UV sterilizer after the 5th week, but lo and behold yesterday the tank started to clear up and today is as clear as glass (~6 weeks total). Patience again rules out. (Note: I did put in a pair of clownfish ~2 weeks into the cloudy phase in the DT along with an airstone to make sure there was plenty of O2 for them--the non-jumper clown fish is doing fine)

I don't think the cloudiness has anything to do with the acro loss, but regardless of the dose, it is likely the Fuel that is spurring it if that is the only organic carbon you are adding. :)

Doing some research here and saw this. I had a heater disaster over the weekend in my 120 mixed reef. Hit 96 + degrees. I'll spare you the details on how it happened. End result was die off of all fish and looks like all SPS. Zoa's and maybe some softies may make it. Also sand sifter star. I removed all dead fish but 2. A yellow wrasse and black benny. Can't find them yet. Ammonia spike only to 3ppm. Did a 30 % water change. RO Ice block and got temp back to 80. Experiencing what I believe to be a bacteria bloom. Randy or others, any advise for corrective action or just "wait it out"?

Sorry to hear this. :(

The bacteria are probably removing undesirable stuff from the water anyway, so I'd wait it out.

You have a skimmer?
Thanks Randy. More comfortable now hearing wait it out from you. Yes I have a skimmer. It has been going a little nuts but I am adjusting as often as I can to keep it running. A little on the wet side. Moved some rock last night to get a dead blenny out of a cave and discovered, (visually thank goodness) a foot long bristle worm.
