Bacteria or Bacteria Waste

I get a fair amount of bacteria in my skimmer dosing NOPOX but it would be interesting to know if this bacteria is alive or is it dead bacteria or possible waste from the bacteria? If it is alive, I am assuming I am wipping out a massive bacteria "farm" when I clean the skimmer and will need some time before the bacteria establish the same populations?

I expect the answer to every question you posed is yes.

However, I do not suspect it is a problem to remove all of the bacteria (alive and dead) in the skimmer.
