Ok so I may make myself sound like a bonehead and we have had cyanobacteria in our tank before red hairy looking stuff that spreads.... Well our sand just the top layer of it has a red like color to it only in spots it looks like it could be cyano but its not hairy looking and its not spreading we do not have it growing anywhere else in our tank (rock, Corals, walls, fixtures, ect) well last night we vacuumed the top layer and it came right off the sand and returned it to a nice white, woke up this morning still white, went out for the day and came home red stuff is back still only on the top layer of sand and it looks to be in the same spots as it was before... Any idea what this could be or how to get rid of it (its not slimy it looks like it just settled on the sand)
Thanks

Also any idea on what type of worm this could be?

I suggest getting a fighting conch for the cyano on the sand bed. It should keep your sand bed clean and white. As for the bristle worm, they are beneficial, although some people find them annoying. Some fish like dottibacks should keep the population down.
