I cycled 80 lbs of Real Reef rock for 5 months and thought I’d add some diversity with AlgaGen pods. The next morning the sand bloomed with diatoms, the rock started growing tufts of algae and the water is cloudy with a bacterial bloom. Anybody have a similar experience?

I’ve never dosed pods before as my previous rock was harvested from Fiji and already populated. I feel a bit foolish trusting the algae free promise on the bottle, and I’m wondering how much phosphate I dumped in my tank. I’d test, but the water clarity won’t allow for it.

I wish I wouldn’t have dumped this bottle of problems in my tank. :(

I've dosed Algae Barn pods and phytoplankton several times without the problems you mentioned. I did use some phytoplankton from another company and had a heck of an GHA bloom. Took weeks to get rid of it.
