Go with vibrant and add bacteria.
My personal remedy is micron filtration such as use of filter socks

What’s the fix for that?

aeration either with the skimmer w/ cup removed, or an airstone will help, but while the bloom is still going on it won't really matter. if you are only cycling with nothing in the aquarium i would just try and to get the bloom under control

You will want more surface mater movement. That will allow gasses to exchange as well.

Hi,

Nothing to stir up the sand at all, everything is as it was when I set it up.

Ph a touch low 7.4
Ammonia 0.25mmp
Nitrite 0.25mmp
Nitrate 5.0mmp

Currently turned skimmer off to see if that helps, but I’m not sure that’s the issue anyways

If this were my system, I would turn the skimmer back on and collect the skimmate.

I'm actually a fan of the API nitrate test kit. I prefer it over my Salifert and Redsea. They all have their pro's and con's.

What did you add for an ammonia source, if anything? To me, it looks like you added some previously used dry rock. Is that the case?

So an update- water very cloudy this morning so I’ve angled the wavemaker to the surface and turned on skimmer, seems to be helping, but I’ll see when I come home from work.

Water test this morning
Ph - 8.0
Ammonia- 1.00ppm
Nitrite- 0.00ppm
Nitrate- 0.00ppm

This is using the current test kit I have (api salt master)
Salifert on its way today.

Results seem odd to me, unless I’m wrong, should there not be at least some nitrate and nitrite? But then this is new to me

Just something to add. If the bloom doesn’t go away within the next few weeks, you might want to consider getting an UV sterilizer to help clear up the water.
