Hello everyone. I finished a weekly dose of Microbacter7 and I now have a bacteria bloom on my sand bed, along with cloudy water. My question is, should I vacuum the sand bed and remove it manually, or will this dissipate over time with weekly water changes. I have a 3 month old sterile tank and would not like to vacuum too much of the sand and disturb the microbes trying to grow. Thanks!

what is your sump like, you have a skimmer , UV, use carbon when needed, or chemipure or chemipure blue?

Hey Ocean, nice to see you again. I have a skimmer, I do not have carbon in the tank (but I do have some on the side in case I need it), I do not use chemipure or chemipure blue, I also do not have a UV sterilizer. I was trying to get ride of this naturally before I have to resort to using a UV sterilizer.

Hey Picassoclown, always great to chat w you. I totally understand your goals to do this naturally. As far as the UV etc I was just trying to get a idea of what you had in your sump or if you even had one to help offer suggestions. I am just going to share what I learned from all the cool experience people here on R2R and from my years in this hobby, making right and wrong choices... UV to me is just a tool to help control issues or help keep ick etc in check or to a minimum, my safe area answer as I do not know if it ever eradicates ich etc. As far as water cloudy it should clear on its own and maybe carbon would help, if for sure will not hurt. I like chemipure blue ever since Vetteguy turned me on to it . I run carbon sometimes. like 2 weeks and it is never constant thing as I have 6 tangs and I hear about it may cause HLLE in them... As you know this hobby is ever changing and new ideas good and bad always pop up....I am always here for you to offer suggestions to make you think about what good for you and your final goal...even if you do not like my ideas or you do, at least your getting ideas to make you see other possibilities....

Likewise Ocean. Thank you. I could add a UV sterilizer if I chose to, it would have to be plumbed into the return manifold. I was concerned about it blowing a breaker, but the wattage is very low, so that can definitely be an option for sure. I would rather hold off on it, because like I said, I would prefer to do it the natural way. If I add a little carbon, with have the corals I have in there at the moment (14 zoa frags and 3 trumpet coral frags), would it be harmful to them, as well as to my trochus snails? I will look into the chemipure stuff now.
