Not new to the hobby but this is a new tank for me. Been up 5 months and has 5 fish and 2 tester frags in it at the moment. Tank has been milky white for 2-3 weeks now and doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. This is the first time I've experienced this so not too sure how to approach this, not sure if I should just wait this out and do regular water changes or if a UV sterilizer will work. And now for water parameters.

Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0
Alk-9.2 (Hanna)
CA-410 (Salifert)
PO4-0 (Hanna)

Same thing happen to one of mine and it lasted for 2weeks. I was told the bb in live rock needs to catch up with bio load and it will go away with time and it did. There is a few other things that can turn water white you can look into that as well.Cloudy Marine Aquarium Water - Marine Aquarium Service

Thanks for replying.... Forgot to mention that tank is bare bottom and I used dead/dry rock to start

using dry or clean rock i have had the issue more than once while setting up a new tank. I hung a UV unit for 2 days and all gone. ran it a couple extra days and put it back in storage waiting for the next new setup

Tank as of today.... Did water change and still running UV

That is pretty cool, so glad that helped. I've been running mine nonstop since 1/9, so almost a month. I have not seen any negative effects so far except there is a small amount of additional heat from the UV unit. I only noticed because I can see the heater cycle with my Apex and there is just more time between coming on than there was before. But not enough to overheat my tank.
