Bacterial Bloom?

Okay, I am BEYOND puzzled, my tank has cycled here are my numbers.

4/01/16
PH 8.2
Ammonia 0.00ppm
Nitrite 0.00ppm
Nitrate 0.00ppm
Temp 78
Salinity 1.026

Now I'm having what I believe is some sort of bacteria bloom, looks like someone poured a cap full of milk into my tank, now from what I've read it's normal and will pass, but here is where the mind blowing comes in, all day it's milky, and then at night and al night long it goes crystal clear, and for the last 3 days the cycle does the same, milky all day, crystal clear all night, in my tank is one black domino damsel, about 6 blue leg hermit crabs, and one snail.. I have live sand, live & dead rock. Has anyone ever had this happen to them before??

What do you mean you have dead rock in your tank? I'm sure that if your tank cycled properly it is full of liveness. Anyway I had the same problem as you for the past week or so. I just did a 20% water change and it cleared right up. I also changed the filter floss that I have in the tank. Hope that helps.

I used a UV sterilizer to clear mine up

Ok guys and gals, i am not sure why one would just need to jump to a UV sterilizer purchase. I think this is why some view the hobby as so expensive. What size is your tank? If it is a nano do not waste the money. Just do a 10%water change. Without pics and by just going off of your description, i had the same thing happen to me. It lasted a few days, maybe a week and i let it do its thing because all of my corals and fish seemed fine. I did two 10% water changes with 1 day apart and presto, gone! If your tank is largish you should probably have a UV sterilization system and probably a protein skimmer. If it is a nano, you NEED none of these! Notice i said need lol. Sometimes peeps get a little "webmd" on these reef sites and they want you to just go buy something. Dont do it, let it ride at least for a week or so to see if your system will balance it out.

I had that in my tank when i put too much ammonia in. I just waited and cleaned it a little and it went away after a week or two
