I have a Blue Chromis in QT for about 2 weeks now, the issue keeps getting worse with the fish. The scales on the fish started to flake on one side and now it's spreading. I've done one 50% water change 5 days ago and then a 20% change yesterday, ammonia levels have been low (.1).

My guess is water conditions and bacterial infection, any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi,
Sorry - I missed your post yesterday. Chromis are prone to a protozoan disease known as Uronema . However, this spot is more diffuse and whiter in color than I would expect. Uronema also kills rather quickly. Is it on both sides of the fish?
What have you dosed the QT with so far?

Thank you for your reply!

Both sides of fish are affected, I had a six line wrasse at the same time but it died within 4-5 days. No visual issues with the wrasse. I started to notice the scales on the chromis fading and flaking about 5 days ago (6 days after receiving) and it started to get bad about 2 days ago.

I've only dosed copper power at the moment.

Uronema is often seen on just one side, and as I said, kills quickly. I’m more inclined to think bacterial infection. However, any time a fish loses that many scales, the prognosis is not good. You should lower the SG to 1.020 to help with osmotic balancing and then dose the QT with a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic, do you have anything?

I wasn't prepared, a few days ago I purchased a bunch of options and everything should be delivered by this weekend. Let me know if I'm missing something, I already have Copper Power.

I ordered:
KanaPlex, MetroPlex, NeoPlex, Furan-2, Methylene Blue, General Cure, Ruby Reef Pro, Selcon

Should I lower SG today and then dose when I receive the meds?

Thank you!
