I was looking at my peacock wrasse this morning, and noticed blotchy redness under the skin, which looks like a bacterial infection. It's similar to this photo on r2r, just less severe, not as dark and smaller; she is also twitching her body from time to time which couldn't be flukes?

In the U.K. We have a product call NT labs anti bacterial that says reef safe, here's the ingredients

  • Acriflavine: 26.7mg / 100ml
  • Aminoacridine HCI: 26.7mg / 100ml
  • Formaldehyde: 754mg / 100ml
The product in question;

Other than that, she is eating and acting normal currently. Would this product help with the bacterial infection? Annoyingly I added chemiclean on my tank yesterday, if possible I would rather treat the DT as my QT is occupied and it's going to be a nightmare catching her.

If it's flukes, can prazi pro be used whilst chemi clean is still in the tank?

Are you able to post a picture? It doesn't sound like flukes to me, but it could be a secondary infection caused by flukes. Meaning it could be both. Or neither.

Read these two:

I would think your best bed would be to use that medication in a bath followed by a QT with antibiotics. You may even want to do a FW dip before the bath to determine if flukes are present.

Pics would be helpful as well.

+2 You don't want to use acriflavine or formalin in a DT; I think that product would be best utilized in a bath treatment before the fish is placed in QT.

This product would be better to use in a QT for treating bacterial diseases (and it is available in the UK): http://www.waterlife.co.uk/marine/disease-treatments-2014-02-05/myxazin-detail#.WN547ztGJsY

Sorry for not updating this, but my wrasse is doing great and all cleared up, she's going to remain in my QT as I had ich show up in my DT which is going fallow. Luckily she's not fussed one bit being in the QT. I have QT tanks popping out my ears now :) I'm going to start gradually lowering the salinity incase she has ich although she's not showing signs, I don't want to risk it.
