Hippo on quarantine for about 30 days because of ich. Currently on coppersafe. Was fine until yesterday. White blotches all over plus a dark abrasions on his nose. Nothing abnormal with behavior. Active and eats regularly.

#mods Can we get this moved to the fish disease section please?

Not sure if it is a bacterial infection, I can't see enough in the pictures. I think it is possible that the white splotches are stress related and that the abraisons are actually HLLE. Hippo Tangs are very susceptibe to HLLE. They are a beautiful fish but they are very sensitive to poor water quality (like copper treated water). @4FordFamily might be able to confirm or offer a more experienced opinion.

the bits on the face will probably end up being HLLE from exposure to poor water quality and copper. The white patches could possibly be part of the hlle OR a bacterial infection. I can't see them very well to tell much more than possibilities.

I agree with this and Brew. Hippo are extremely prone to HLLE which gets exacerbated by copper. Copper is a necessary evil, however. Soak food in selcon and feed lots of varied types of nori.

I can't tell on the infection front but hippos can show stress spots. Keep a close eye on it. It's never a bad idea to buy and have kanaplex, metroplex, and furan 2 on hand for these instances of infection, however.
