Hey Guys-

One of my anthias in QT has what I think is a bacterial infection so I’m looking for confirmation. It seems to be getting worse but she’s still eating, active and chasing the others. I would like to act soon but want to make sure I’ve ID’ed this properly. I have metro, kanaplex and furan 2 ready to go. She’s super active so hard to get a good pic of it. Currently, I have copper in the tank

It doesn't look like the standard-issue bacterial infection to me - but I've got a hard time imagining what else it might be.

Copper and antibiotics can be done together, but shouldn't if it can be avoided. (In this case, not sure it can.) Make sure your aeration and water movement are keeping everything oxygenated.

Thanks Bruce, I agree. Not the standard bacterial infection I’ve seen either. It’s a 55g QT with a RW 8 for water movement and a 100g air pump as well.

Looking for a lil more help here guys...anyone got any ideas what Im dealing with here?

It looks kind of like the fuzzy brown infection on the chocolate tang I lost in QT :/

Can you transfer him to another QT, without copper? I think an acriflavine bath en route, and then treating with the trifecta is probably your best bet.

Well looks like another anthias has bacterial infection. I’m going to treat the whole QT with furan 2, metro and kanaplex. I’ve never done all three with copper but is there a “best” way to do it or just add all at once? I’ll add an extra air pump if needed.

Uronema's a facultative, rather than an obligate parasite, so it can be around for a long time without causing harm. It's pretty rampant in Chromis, but seems like most of the fish I've seen it in have been openwater planktivores - anthias, Genicanthus angels, etc...

Sorry for all the questions guys but just saw some discoloration on my whitetail. He has a couple dark spots on his head above his eye and a couple on his body by his dorsal fin. Any ideas?

Copper can keep it at bay but won't usually cure it on it's own. It's a tricky one to treat...I've read of some success using metroplex and copper together. And you need to food soak as well as treat the water with the metro...since it can spread internally.

Once treatment is completed, you'll want to transfer to another sterile, unmedicated QT and observe for several more weeks to be sure it's gone. An acriflavine or formalin bath as a last insurance before going to the new QT wouldn't a bad idea either, this is NOT something you want sneaking through to your display...
