Hello everyone!
My royal gramma recently developed what I believe to be a bacterial infection. Will it spread to the other fish? I know there are “reef safe” treatments but will he be able to fight it off with some good antibiotics?

Any chance you can get a pic under white light? How long have you had it? Bacterial lesions usually begin as an injury, so aren’t likely to spread to other fish, but this could be something else, tough to see though.

True. I am happy to catch a photo tomorrow. Everyone’s asleep right now.

Thanks, that helps a lot. Mainly, I can now see its body coloration is a bit faded as well. Do you have the ability to move it to an isolation tank? If not, then indeed, you'll be restricted to using "reef safe" medications, but many of those are also "disease safe" as well! If you go that route, the only one I know of that has ingredients that are actually used in aquaculture is Ruby Reef Rally pro, as it has acriflavine in it. A lot of people use Melafix, but I'm not convinced that botanicals are effective treatments for active diseases.
