I believe this is a bacterial infection but wanted to verify my diagnosis. I dosed the QT with Kanaplex before leaving the house this morning. I also have Neoplex that I’ll dose tomorrow and again in 7 days. Kanaplex I’ll dose every other day for 14 days. If I’m wrong please correct me.

Tough call to ID these sorts of lesions visually. Did you notice any rapid breathing? How long have you had this fish? Is it still eating? Any other fish in with it (I do see the anthias).

Did this lesion appear suddenly? The reason I ask that is that there seems to be a ring of darker skin around it. That could be granulation tissue ( a sign of healing) but that would only happen if the lesion is older. Another reason for dark material like that is that the issue is fungal, not bacterial. Rare to see, but not impossible. Difficult to treat for that, 75 ppm formalin for one hour under aeration daily worked for me recently.

So, I actually haven’t laid eyes on them since the 8th. I was admitted to the hospital and my wife has been feeding and topping off. I got this batch of fish on the 4th and they have all eaten well since the beginning. This goby has made 2 escapes to the back chamber of the biocube since its arrival (1st time was on the 6th and 2nd was on the evening of the 8th) and the first rescue was pretty rough and wouldn’t surprise me if he had an injury from that. My wife just noticed it this morning and didn’t mention anything else out of the norm. She was trying to get out the door for work so I just had her dose the Kanaplex before she left. She has been feeding and making sure everyone is accounted for and eating but that’s about it. In the QT with the goby are 2 Banggai cardinals, 2 Lyretail anthias, and a six line. These are destined for different DT’s as I have 3. Before being hospitalized I had only raised copper power up to 1.65ppm and haven’t asked my wife to try raising and testing as she has been very overloaded taking care of my tanks, kids, and regular house duties. They went through 2 doses of General cure when they first arrived and they have been feeding of frozen food mixed with fishbendaxole and focus for 14 days.

Sorry to hear you’re in the hospital. I’d write this off as a partially healed injury, just based on the history.

So, do you think I should stay the course of antibiotics I outlined in my original post?
This would be preventative for possible secondary infection that might show up before healed.

I think you should finish the course of antibiotics and not halt midway.

Yes - once begun, you might as well follow through.
