Bacterial infections in qt with copperpower

Can anyone tell me if this a secondary bacterial inf. He’s a Vlamingi tang been in copper for about 2 weeks, at therapeutic for about a week, wondering if I can treat with antibiotics while in the copper. It looks fuzzy, has great appetite never seen any evidence of ick on him

If those white areas are protruding cottony or cauliflower like, they are probably lymphocycstis. If they are filmy white-ish or have any redness then you are dealing with bacterial infection. Or it could be a bit of both. Keep a close eye on them. Do you have antibiotics on hand?

Yes have metro, kanaplex, and focus, also malachite green, and Rally

For nasty bacterial infections the "trifecta" of Metro + Kanaplex + Furan2 works really well and is gentle on the fish. So all you need is some Furan2 and you are ready if needed.

Hmm don’t have the furan, will try to get it tomorrow, but I read that using antibiotics in copper is risky. Also would I follow directions on each label and dose according to which one?

Day 1: Use recommended dosage for Metroplex, KanaPlex & Furan-2
Day 2: Use recommended dosage for Furan-2 only
Day 3: 25% Water change and use recommended dosage for Metroplex, KanaPlex & Furan-2

Repeat this twice (10 days)... Even if he starts looking better after only a few. You can also add vitamins to his food. This will help boost his immune system

Do you think it would be a good idea to tank transfer him to a new tank without copper, I’m guessing it is but then would have to redo 30 day quarantine to be sure. Oh and thanks so much for the info above, it sure helps when you you know right we’re to look, ive been searching posts for an hour.

After 14 days of therapeutic copper levels, you can transfer the fish to a clean QT to observe and treat with antibiotics if necessary.
I usually leave them in for 30 days as long as they are doing OK and no sign of bacterial infection, etc. But some fish do have a hard time with the copper as it suppresses their immune system to the point where infection sets in.
