Around my YWG's head there has been some persistent white spots. I almost equate them to how a human's skin looks after suffering from severe burns and healing. I don't ever see the fish exhibit any scratching behavior, and his eating habits remain unchanged. He's the only fish inhabitant in an ADA 60F, about 8-9 gallons, alongside a porcelain crab and a pom pom crab.

At first I thought maybe it was flukes, as there was some more spotting along side his body. They appear much more apparent on some days, and less apparent on others. I treated with a round of Fluconazole for a bryopsis outbreak, which is absolutely annihilated, and I had THOUGHT that the YWG appeared better, but it could just be my imagination.

Any thoughts to what this might be? It is ONLY present right behind his eye as seen in this picture. Thanks!

Is it on both sides or just the one?

What do you feed?

It is purely in that one spot, not present on the other side of his head. I currently feed the tank LRS Reef Frenzy nano, along with Reef Roids for the coral. I previously fed Omega One garlic infused pellets, but I believe they were too big for him (or too hard) as he was passing them through his gill instead of eating them. He devours the Reef Frenzy (essentially eats right out of the tongs).

At home I have new Hikari Marine S Pellet I can bring in to try. It is VERY small. I additionally dose MB7 daily at the established system rate.

Edit: This is the other side of his body for reference. A little dark, but I can assure you there are no spots on this side.

It looks more like an injury to me. I would just give it time and keep doing what you are doing and see if it heals on its own. As long as it doesn't turn red (infection) or continue to grow in size I think you will be ok. If it starts to worsen or become infected moving to a QT and treating with antibiotics would be necessary.

Thank you very much HotRocks. I have begun to think the same, and honestly thought that either A) He was getting swiped by the pom pom crabs anemones, though I'm not sure if they would do enough harm like this (I've actually seen him take swipes at the YWG) or B) My porcelain crab has gone rogue. He is VERY large now, but the YWG seems to know to keep his distance. He is also hand fed every day.

Thank you again, I will continue to monitor.
