Bad bulbs?

Does the black area on the bulbs indicate they're bad?

I was told yes. That is an indication time to replace.

They're less than a month hold. I found some trouble shooting steps to check the fixture. I switched the bad bulb with a good one...the "bad" bulb started working and the good one stopped. :-( Fixture is less than a month old too.

I hope they are ok, however was told when you see black on the ends, the light wave lengths are no longer within but the range the bulb was designed for.
