I restarted and old salt water tank. The rock was never left dry and I have aragonite for the sand bed which was also was not left fry.

I’m at the end of 6 months cycling. At the moment it’s fish only. My r/o is running BRS Triple Di setup and a GFO reactor. I bought new Kessel lighting and have lowered the intensity.

I did a water change on Saturday
and by Sunday it was all over the bottom again.

This just started in earnest about a week ago and it’s completely covered the bottom.

On Sunday I bought 12 Astraea snails but they are sticking to glass and doing a great job. However even when I put them right in the diatoms they just head to the glass.

Does anybody have any suggestions for me on how to get ride of this problem.

Thanks
Terry

PS My water chemistry is everything is at 0 except my NH4 is at .125

You may want to take a look under a microscope to confirm it's diatoms and not dinos.

My dinos were only on the sandbed and exploded after a water change. Snails won't touch them.

That actually doesn't look too bad. It's kind of odd though that diatoms would suddenly show up 6 months in. Do they disappear at night?

Hi thanks for taking a look and no it doesn’t go at night. So I shut off the light earlier today and I just do all my tests and everything is at 0 &ph is 8.2.

My Cheato is growing like crazy do you think it because I don’t have enough nutrients?
