I was pretty unhappy with my aquascape, so I decided to order a nice rock structure from Cerameco. I met them at RAP, and they build some pretty nice man made rocks. My tank is 6'x2'x2', and I was only looking for a rock to take up the center of my tank. It was gunna be about 40lbs.
I called them up, and told them what I needed and asked how long it would take to build a custom rock for my tank. I spoke with Jeremy, and he told me it would be no prob, and it should only take about a week to build and ship. I was pretty stoked, and I decided to should quickly sell a few big pieces of rock from my tank. The rock sold in a couple days, but I wasn't worried since Jeremy assured me it would only take a week for my new rock to come in. (That was over 2 months ago)
My tank still had plenty of live rock in the tank and in the sump, so I wasn't worried about filtration. However I was concerned about hiding spots for my 8 tangs. They all need their own spot to sleep, or they get moody. By selling those two big rocks from my tank, I took away 4 of their sleeping spots. My blue tang started getting stressed and started showing signs of ich, and my sargassum trigger also had some ich for a couple days.(Luckily nobody died, and Everyone is healthy and eating today.)
Ok so after my first phone call, Jeremy told me I needed to fill out an email saying what dimensions I wanted and he had to send me a couple pics so I could get some ideas about what I wanted my structure to look like. It took him 2 weeks just to send me the form and pics. I called every day for 2 weeks, everytime apologizing for "bothering" them. He always had excuses about how busy he was blah blah blah. I should have known by then, but I was so stoked to get a nice custom rock. I quickly sent the email back with a nice description and photoshopped pic of what I wanted my rock to look like. I stopped calling everyday, because i didn't want to annoy them. After a few days, I called to see how the progress was going on the rock. Jeremy told me that the rock was being built and that it should be ready by the end of the week. I was happy, maybe they were just legitimately busy. I was expecting a call by the end of the week so I could approve the rock and pay for it, but it never came. I called Cerameco on the following Monday and spoke with an employee that told me Jeremy was not in. I asked if he could help me out and let me know the progress on my rock. He wrote down my name and went to Check...of course they had not even started on my rock. And the employee couldn't even find my paperwork. What a joke. This went on for a few more weeks. I spoke with Jeremy a couple more times and every time he told me my rock should be done by the end of the week and obviously that never was true. After 2 months, I finally called and told them to cancel my order. The employee I talked to said he would tell Jeremy and that Jeremy would call me or email me back. Of course I got no call or email back.
Anyways just thought I'd share my horrible experience. I'm now gunna just get some Real Reef Rock from a local fish store and he's gunna help me build a structure with some acrylic rods. I figured that will probably look better, since Ceramecos rock would not have matched my Fiji live rock anyways.
Here's the pic of what my rock was suppose to look like..
