So hating myself not asking for more pictures of the skeleton of recent purchase of an Aussie 24k gold torch.

Feel like I should have been picky spending a decent amount on a coral and doing all checks.

Reason I havent pushed for refund or anything because 90% of anything online purchased always say disclaimer for D.O.A. so it isnt necessarily dead but isnt healthy as you would expect.

Gave the reason as shipping stress and give it time to heal.

The flesh is receded and unlike all my other torches have plenty of flesh on the side down the skeleton.

I have multiple thriving torches so I hate to hear the blame game etc.

As seen above on the video, doesnt look happy and the flesh was already almost nowhere to be seen. It obviously wasnt dead so I mean how much can we fight this fight?

Anyone ever had this issue dealing with R2R livestock private sellers? Probably wont be dealing with any of that again unless rarity deems it.

Here is a recent tank pic so that I dont hear it was my tank as well.

Yes, not the absolute best tank out there but solid overall. Parameters have been stable and tank setup for about 9 months now.

I cant wait to see the influx of saying it's a new tank, this or that.

However, the issue is before the coral even got in my tank, the coral didnt look healthy.

So a) what would you do about the situation if it continues to deteroriate? And B) how many others have been shafted on here?

I see a recent thread on LedReef who looks like he's been scamming the R2R community. So if it is prevelant and R2R isnt doing a good job protecting the community, probably stick with just equipment purchases and reading the vast knowledge on here.

Thanks!

Researching your seller will help you avoid situations like this in the future. I like putting their name in the search bar and looking through a couple of their threads to see feedback from other customers etc. A lot of the time, really good and well known sellers will have comments thanking them for the coral, great shipping, communication, etc. Sometimes they even have a seller feedback thread. I also always ask for a video, pics in blue and white light, and when the coral was fragged. This information often helps you determine the health and reliability of the seller :). If the seller doesn’t want to take more pictures for me, I don’t buy from them.

Assure it has been acclimated very well.
Place it in tank under L O W light heavy in blue and moderate water flow. Add a little bit of aminos to tank and let it sit lower tank location next 48 hours and see if any tissue starts to show.
As for being shafted, No outside comments are permitted as this is between you and vendor and it maintains respect and integrity regardless of other's reputation
If you paid paypal- You know what steps to take if this cannot be resolved amicably

Could find out by checking my recent posts.

I would just recommend asking for better, clearer pictures. If I asked ahead of time, I would have passed on the deal.
Very true!
We all make mistakes and learn from them. Your experience will help others!

Looks like the torch is imploding (bail out) from the middle head. I assume it is going to take down the other two splitting heads.

I dont believe it is BJD. Now if it causes my other torches to go, I'll be extremely ticked.

Down goes $400 but my other torches are another 1600$ if not more.

So seller said not DOA so nothing he can do. I dont understand sending an obviously not healthy coral allows for this.
and I guess you learn.

Please make sure you do all your checks and balances before buying from R2R community. Always some bad experiences so this one is learned with $400+.

I'll leave feedback in the seller / trader forums.
