Bad guys? Would you glue them down or not?

I recently picked these guys up from a local reefer as a freebie and I can't decide if they are a bad guy or not and weather or not I dare glue them down to the rocks. I'm afraid they would spread like wildfire and become a nuisance. Would you do it? Any idea on an ID for them?

They are a Protopaly and will grow quickly. Move them to an area were they are by themselves. They might be pretty. You never know. They do have a pretty cool look under your lighting. Like a cool Captain America.:xd:

If you aren't 100% sure you love them then don't glue em down. Might regret it later after they take over...

They look like sea foam polys and if so I wouldn't glue down to nothing important. Again if there what I said earlier they look like I've lost a rock and still fight with them today.

They are Palythoa spp. and will normally grow fast, specially if you feed them, and you should.
I would put them separately in a little rock on the sand and enjoy that way.
They aren't bad guys, but they do push other ones around.

Frag it and put it in different spots on your tank. You'll love how your tank will be covered with palys everywhere. It'll be a great garden lol

Yep gotta grow as many as possible! Then when you try to remove them the toxin will nuke the whole tank for you! I'd rather have aptaisia.

I would say no. Protopaly grow way too fast and out compete other polyps because they out shade them

I wish I had only 4 heads. I got some freebies of the seafoams too. Now I have to 'prune' them all the time. I wish I could find something that eats em.

If you separate them there is no problem.
They normally don't reproduce sexually.
They actually add some texture to the system.
On their own rock and on the sand, isolated. :tongue:

Here are my two "I wish I had separated" Zoas

Both rocks are good size and I've been waring with them for over 4yrs in this tank. It all comes down to real estate.

You can cut their heads off and they will still grow back... Not a fan of protopalys

It's ashamed but it's a newbies con, because most vets would never touch them (maybe a few) but most won't. That's why when beginners come by and see them and want them they get the warning.

As long as you keep them on an "island" so they can't spread they will be fine.
Whatever rock they can grow onto they will eventually cover so I suggest keeping them isolated.
