I have a reefer 170 with a pair of ocellaris and a sunburst anthias (Serranocirrhitus latus). The female clown is kind of a bully but does not bother the anthias. The anthias is very bold, eats aggressively and will even chase the male clown a little.

I tried to add a fang blend and the female clown chased it relentlessly.

I am thinking of a trio of captive bred azure damsels. I am concerned for obvious reasons (tank size, tank mates).

Your thoughts please!

Likely the clown and azures will not play well. Yes, tank size has some to do with it.

With a display volume of 34 gallons, I wouldn't try it

You think so? I know they are related but look so different. I was more concerned about the azures and the anthias.

Azures are pretty mellow, but they do stake out a territory. 34 gallons is probably OK, but not definitely.
