Took a little drive to check out a couple of local fish stores. Neither had much of a selection of fish. Only one had a few corals and they didn't look healthy at all. The other had a few fish but the tanks were a mess. Hard to see in the tanks because of the algae and the fish looked lethargic. :tsk: Very disappointing experience.
Looks like when I am ready I will be ordering livestock online. Anyone have experience with LiveAquaria.com?

live aquaria is very good! and if you have problems they have a 14day policy, there one of the best... but a lot of the venders here on the site are great to!!!

Just ask your lfs to order something in for you. Stores here will order in and let you look and observe before you buy

Live aquaria is a great place to order from. We also have other great vendors on here that you may want to look into. Some even have free shipping at as low as $125!!!

Live aquaria has great customer service and probably the nearest online store to you. Used to live in iowa never found any good saltwater fish stores with coral or much selection

LFS usually only carry what they can sell quickly, some are only doing it for the money and some are just plain lazy with their tank maintanance, very few are top notch stores, though I'm a firm believer in supporting your local fish store,do so with replacing your frozen foods and whatnot,if they're anything like mine here, and order livestock from a reputible on-line vender...

liveaquaria.com is excellent both with fish and coral,I've also had great luck with saltwaterfish.com fish...for all my coral needs,I now go to myreeftoyours.com,excellent prices and selection plus Jared is an all around great guy to do business with

main thing with on-line orders, watch the weather forcast, look for a few days of great weather, try to avoid making orders when the weather is gonna be extreme, you can't fully rely on FedEx or UPS for timely deliveries during extreme weather, and the longer livestock is in a box lessens it's survivability rate

lot of bad lfs's but you have to make the best of it, cause one day you might have to rely on them for a emergency..
