Woke up this morning and just decided to look at my tank. To my surprise my feet were wet! It took me a few moments to figure out where all the water came from. I noticed water and salt stains down the front of the tank. I have a siphon tube overflow box on the back of the the tank. Thought my pre filter was plugged, nope then I saw a med size snail in the box. I finally figured it out that the snail went through the siphon tube restricking my flow to the sump and over flowed the tank.:-( I can see how a drilled reef ready tank might be in the future purchase.

Any one else have any crazy things happen to your setup? Share your experence.

I had a PVC pipe crack. Poured water everywhere. I guess I bent it. Not sure. But it was terrible.

Man so sorry to hear! It is inevitable that things like this are going to happen and it hits us all!

yeah bige i did the same thing on my pvc pipe going into my refuge i ended up cracking it at 2am and ended up draining half the tank to get it to stop leaking. i then proceded to put a valve on it so if it happens again it wont be such a headache

The fix is a cut off switch in sump. You place it so it shuts down your main pump before you over flow your display. Sorry to hear about that!

Sounds like problems will always happen. I like the float switch idea!! I'll have to look around to see what I can fine.

I had something similar happen to me years ago. I ended up nothing in a second siphon tube to ensure it never happened again. Hope your day turns around and you get a nice fish our coral to make it better
