Bad smell from sulphure reactor

This is obligate anaerobic autotrophic bacteria we are dealing with. Maybe oxygen not kill every one but for sure it will diminish the population a lot. As all autotropic bacteria - these are slow grower and will be competed out by the rather fast growing heterotroph bacteria that produce the hydrogen sulphide as an example. Is well known that a sulphur denitrator take a certain time to start and can be rather tricky sometimes.

For the book. normal heterotroph denitrifying bacteria will not be killed by oxygen rich water because they are facultative anaerobs. They will only swing back to oxygen as elektron acceptor instead of NO3

Sincerely Lasse
