As the title states, some ugly weather knocked out my power. I don't have a generator yet and I work nights, so there was only so much I could do before leaving for work. The battery backup on my 120g was taking care of the return pump & gyre and had 92 mins of juice left when I walked out the door. I put battery powered airstones in there in case the backup drains before power is restored. There's 3 fish and several frags in there. I also have battery powered air stones in the fish quarantine, and underneath the frag rack in the coral quarantine. The aeration should be sufficient for the fish (I hope) but will an air wand underneath a frag rack create enough water movement to save the corals? Is there anything else I could have done to protect my tanks before heading to work? I know I need a generator but the money had to unexpectedly go elsewhere. Thanks.

Airstones are wonderful when it comes to added water movements, oxygen production and releasing gases at the surface

Thank you! I hope the power comes back on soon. I've been keeping an eye on the company's power outage maps, and my side of town is still dark.

Having had an extended power outage earlier this summer. Some things I would do differently. Mine lasted 5 days.

1). I wasn’t home to verify my backup equipment was working properly. Would have put the profilux or seneye on the generator. And for battery air pumps taught someone to look and how to change their batteries.
2). Test my back up generator for extended use.

In your case if the house gets warm open windows, cooler is better than warmer when it comes to O2 carrying capacity.

Hoping the best for your tank.

If possible, you could purchase a cheap inverter and use your car battery for some intermittent power to run your circulation pumps. They have bailed out several people in the past.
Good luck, positive vibes heading your way...

For those reading this in the future, this post by @Reeferdood saved my tank last night. The same storm system that hit @SallyWho also took out my power in the OKC area. It was out for 12 hrs. I was up all night manually agitating the water desperately looking for answers on R2R. My 5 yr. old Foxface was on her side when my husband returned home with the $50 inverter. We ran the return pump and one gyre for the rest of the duration of the outage. My Foxface has recovered as well as the other fish. One anemone was deflated but has also perked up now.

So manually agitating the water every 30 min. was working for the first 6 hrs. But the next 6 hrs. would have been touch and go without the inverter I'm guessing.

I'm so grateful to R2R and the wealth of information on here for any crisis.
