bad way to clean algae on tank walls?

Thoughts on this? Could anything go wrong? Will my hermits/snails/fish eat it? Should I take a net, and get most of it out? Good/Bad?

It's just algae.... it'll settle down. My fish love eating the algae i scrape off the glass after a few days of build up.

You ought to pull up a thread running right now called how long did your uglies phase last, and read that for sure, it applies to your tank.

The way my yapping there ties into your tank is: this was your happenstance. A macro algae hitchhiker that nearly any grazer would want, tang keepers only wish they could grow this naturally. All invasions are a matter of allowance, and luck or unluck. yours is allowance plus luck, if you didn't remove that, and chose to let it run its course, it could never actually overtake your tank as its highly receptive to peroxide and we could burn it all out in one pass.

that being said, like in that reference thread, this is your chance to earn/learn hand force cleaning, so that one day when you are not lucky, you are practiced, which is better than lucky. in my opinion you should clean it for the practice of being in control of your tank, at all times, and not for one second allowing the tank to take control. You've bought fine live rock; don't plug that up with inaction, keep it open and breathing by cleaning it outside the tank occasionally as needed, true exportive cleaning.

If it's glass, a razor blade will work the best. Quick and easy, just make sure you only run the blade down the glass holding the blade level against it to prevent scratching. Then, I'd grab a net or a buddy and have them catch the algae as it comes off.

Then again, if it's new algae that's from a tank cycle, any scraper or soft sponge would probably take it right off.

Run filter socks, turn your circulation up as high as possible after cleaning the glass and change your filter socks an hour or so later. I have the same issue except mine doesn't come off in sheets like that, just makes the water look "muddy" for a few minutes.

I'd net out as much as you can . filter it whatever, as much as possible. This will die & create excess nutrients. This will just cause another bloom.

This can be clean with a regular aquarium algae sponge. Avoid ponds coming from your households, such as the sink, because most of them come with anti-microbial agents that will harm your fish tank. It is advised to use a regular aquarium sponge depending on the type of glass you have and use the appropriate sponge.
