Found my wrasse breathing heavy on sand when I got home tonight. He didn't come up for food, only swam a bit when a pump kicked on... I got a closer look at him & he's injured bad, I can only guess something got a hold of him but the only thing in the tank that might is a green emerald crab... I mean there's a gash in his face, I don't know if there's anything I can do??

Should I treat those wounds in any way or let him be?

Did it make it? Emerald Crabs can and will be opportunistic, especially at night when fairy wrasses sleep. But i suspect something else is a play here like disease or parasite that weakened its immune system caused it to be lethargic. Thus a crab would be able to attack it.

Didn't make it, the very day before he was swimming at "full speed" & bouncing around the tank. That was my favorite fish too... I looked at him closer when I pulled him out of the tank, he had multiple scrapes along with a chunk missing... I'm no fish doctor by any means, maybe something set in very fast... but I tossed the emerald crab in the sump. Thanks for asking.

Also possible it got chewed up by a powerhead ….

dang... I can see how that might happen too. I can put the screen sleeves on my gyre in case.
