Hello I am trying to design my first sump but I have no idea the math involved in calculating water level of sections seperated by baffles

I've seen some where the baffle is a little above the bottom and sometimes where it is right on the bottom. How do you calculate the water height in each section given the baffle height? I have not been able to find anything regarding this so I would appreciate some help

The baffle height sets the chamber height. If you’re using 3 as a bubble trap, put the middle one higher up and use the outer two to set the chamber height. I’d recommend an inch gap between baffles and an inch off the bottom for the middle baffle.

The baffles set at the bottom and then above the bottom are designed the make the water flow over and under the baffles. In smaller sumps this is a very efficient means of giving the bubbles that come down the overflow a chance to rise to the surface so that you don't get air that came down the pipe, flowing right into the pump and creating a micro bubble issue.

I run all my sumps baffle free. Have you considered this?
That said baffle placement/heigjt is what determines water level.
yea I've seen your thread about the ATO baffle problem thing haha but I'm not concerned with that. I would like to have baffles mainly for structure and refugium

your last baffle should be over, under and over for a bubble trap. the height of this baffle will determine running height of your sump to accommodate skimmer water level. baffle between skimmer and fuge, water can pass under to maintain level.

Ladies and gentlemen, behold my first diy sump design. How is everything looking thus far? Anything out of length? Any concerns about the frag section? (this sump is 30g long, display is 75 gallon)
