So, I used acrylic for a baffle in a glass aquarium (I know, I shouldn’t have) and one baffle came undone. I’m probably going to drain it, and put in a glass baffle. The only place near me that will take a small glass job like this is ace hardware, but their thickest glass is 1/8”. I’m going to likely use it, but I’m just wondering what would be the best route:
I can either stick with the 1/8” glass baffle (it’s the last baffle of the bubble trap)
I can silicone 2 baffles together(if that would make it more sturdy)
Or maybe use the acrylic baffle on the oncoming side, and use silicone to stick the 1/8” glass baffle, and acrylic baffle together to make it sturdier(of that makes sense). Thank you so much to whoever will humor this conundrum.

I know what you are talking about. The glass they have is thin. If you have to go that route - then I guess marry 2 pieces together? I'm sure others will chime in as well. Best of luck on your project!

People always say not to use acrylic baffles in glass tanks and I've never understood why. I've made 2 or 3 sumps over the years using acrylic in glass and have never had a problem. I think the key is just doing a good job with the silicone. Make sure you glue the baffle in place and also run a bead on both sides of the baffle to make sure no water gets behind the silicone. I ran a homemade 29 gal sump using acrylic baffles for nearly 10 years and when I took down the tank those baffles where still very secure in place. Either way, good luck.

no glass shop is willing to cut u glass?... I'd contact few more, esp the smaller mom and pop shops bc I had no problem getting just few cut. Just make sure to ask for edges smoothed. If u must glue 2 thin glass, I'd make sure its glued airtight so no water will get between or else it'll grow algae in between that'll be impossible to keep clean/remove.

Why would you not use an acrylic baffle in glass? It's not like the two pieces are interacting with each other, and silicone bonds to both of them just fine.
