. Anyone use these? Let me know, and... Why does the intake baffle have cross slots in it? Shouldn't it be solid? And roll over top? Opinions ? Thnx

I've been considering getting one of these kits for my spare 40 breeder to make a sump out of. My only concern is that the baffles are made out of acrylic, and silicone doesn't bond acrylic and glass very well. It'll do it, but its not as strong as glass to glass. The first baffle has the slots in it for a refugium so the water evenly passes over your macroalgae. :)

I used RTV (108 I think, I'd have to check the tubes) It has held them well. The key is that they only fit Aqueon tanks. Nobody near me carried them, so I picked another and just installed angled. I didn't have any tools on hand to trim and thankfully haven't noticed any hindrance to operation.

I saw this. maybe @Dsnakes can give an opinion here
I think they work just fine! I have been happy with mine. Even at an angle!

Highly recommend the silicone @Xavierwally posted above for attaching acrylic baffles to a glass sump. This silicone sticks like grim death to acrylic (and glass). HD does sell this, but with the acrylic sheets. You won't find it in the paint department with the other silicone caulks.

Luckily my 40 breeder is an aqueon tank, thanks for the tip! I may have to get this kit and do a sump upgrade !:):)
