Bakbay's 450g - Final Upgrade?

I have 3 Haddoni's, 4 Colorado's, and 2 Chicago's. I'm a sucker for carpet nems! I've been on a quest for the last 2 years to add Gigantea's to the tank - I think I've finally found a place to source them locally. Understand that gigs don't do well due to shipping and Cipro treatment is a must!


I've sourced them from Harry's Marine Life, other distributors, and hobbyists locally. I prefer the latter since these fish tend to be hardier; but regardless, I QT all fish now that I've been through a nasty velvet outbreak. I've met some cool reefers as well -- finally met @Lbrdsoxfan and bought all his fish during a tank tear-down.

I have an only amazing experiences, he has stocked my entire 209 gallon all fish healthy and amazing.

Nice chart - so far, everyone is doing fine, including wrasses. They are swimming and eating. Conflicting info — I thought 1.75 is good enough for CP, no?

It is a little confusing. CP does NOT stand for Copper Power. It stands for Chloroquine Phosphate. That is a different chemical also used in QT. Problem with it is that you can't measure Chloroquine levels with a test kit.

You need to raise it to above 2.3 to be therapeutic with Copper Power.

Ah I hear you, I mean he does replace anything that’s not to your exact liking or description. I ordered 9 Anthias and he sent 11 just in case all were perfectly healthy. Diamond goby same story he sent two. If you are willing to take the jump I strongly suggest him. You wouldn’t need to worry about QT and copper levels. Can just place the fish he already QT in observation if you feel that’s necessary!

Yes, I've figured that out since I saw 5 (do not attempt) with CP (not Copper Power).

That's why I went with at least 1.75ppm on the 175g with 4 wrasses. So you're saying that it's currently ineffective until I reach 2.3ppm?

Thanks for the referral. I've never bought livestock online though. I typically need to see it swimming, observe for any body defects/color patterns, and see if it's already eating. I'm going to QT it anyway so why not?

I think the effectiveness of the copper level is dependent on the type and strain of ich/velvet. Some will be more resistant or less resistant, you don't know, so that is why people go with the higher levels in case they have the more resistant type. But you can try going lower copper, and then observe if it works.

Makes sense. Just nervous about the wrasses that’s all. I’ll try to go over 2’sh to make sure. Will run for a full week and throttle down.

Corals are healthy, esp the torches. SPS frags got PE so things appear stable.

What’s weird is that my Mg is always low. I’ve poured half a gallon (no joke) in hope of bringing this up. Unfortunately don’t have a Mg Hanna tester so relying on the Trident.

Brightwell Mag in 5g bucket. It’s 1238 now — should be 1300s later today. I plan to run around 1400s for this tank.
