Anyone ever hear of adapting a bala slowly into salt water? I know it sounds dumb... But curious if it could work. As of now I have a Harty little fat one in a fresh water and just added some reef crystals to it. Not enough to show. But I plan on this shallow tank being a LPS and softies Dom tank. Moving the shark to my 75... Figure I'll take a month to work the Salinity up... Opinion s?

They are freshwater only as far as I know, no amount of acclimation will allow them to survive in saltwater.

Do Bala sharks typically live in brackish water? If so it might be possible. If they don't I don't think it's very likely that'll it won't work. Have you searched online to see if it's possible at all? I did a quick google search and it doesn't look like they are.

Well I mean there are fish that can be transferred... Some puffers, mollies and some others but now I'm curious.
I think ill do some research and follow your progress

Id start by researching where Bama sharks hail from. If its straight fresh water then if imagine its a no go. But if its brackish then is think its likely it could work

Upon further google searching they are not in fact a shark at all, but the get the name because of their looks and how big they get. They also hail from freshwater, so I doubt that it will survive in saltwater even if you acclimate it slowly.

That's what I figured... Went looking for Colombian and Lfs told me they were brackish too... Figured 5$ science experiment... I guess I'll keep this updated
