Is there an advantage to following this? I am near this range already at:
8.8 dkh
430 ppm Ca
 
No, it definitely isn't a guide to suitable target levels. :)

All it is telling you is that if you start at approximate NSW levels of 411 ppm and 7 dKH, that if you add or subtract the calcium and alkalinity in proportion to make calcium carbonate, you can get to those other levels. That may be useful to know when doing certain types of adjustments, but not as target goals. :)
