Hi guys! :)

So yesterday I went out to my LFS to get some CUC for my nuvo fusion 20. It's been up for a year soon and I was in the need for some algae eaters. I have had Trochus and Tectus in a bigger system before and this time I wanted some hermits, but I was hoping for Scarlet Hermits as they apparently love nuisance algae like hair and cyano (It's starting to appear). At the shop they didnt have any scarlet hermits, but they had a different kind, that I've never seen before. The guy working there said they were more of a "colony" hermit and recommended them warmly. He assured they loved algae just like scarlet hermits and he gave me 5 of them (I was aiming for 3 as the tank is only 20 gallons but he gave me 5) . I also ended up with 2 Trochus and 1 Tectus snail and a pair of Pom-Pom Crabs (they are just too adorable and I've always wanted a pair).

Since I hadn't seen this kind of hermit before I tried looking it up to get more info about them, as the guy at the shop never said what they were actually called, and my search resulted in them being the Bali Bright Red Hermit, as they look identical to the ones on this site: https://www.saltwaterfish.com/product-bali-bright-red-hermit-crab-group-of-5
Same shell, same body.
They are not mentioned in any books I have and liveaquaria does not seem to have any info on them either. I can't find much info other than what's mentioned on the page i linked to.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they active or shy, do they love algae like the Scarlet Hermits does, are they a "colony" hermit like the guy said or are 5 too many for my nuvo fusion? Any tips, hints and experiences with these guys are greatly appreciated :) I also asked for a bunch of empty shells for them to use as they grow, and he gave me empty shells from Trochus, Tectus, Nassarius and a few from the same shell they are currently using. Do they accept the tectus, trochus and nassarius shells or do I need more specific shells for them?

The genus name listed on that SWF link is the same genus as scarlet reef hermits, so I’d imagine they are similar.

Yeah I noticed that too, but the larger red legged is also in the same genus and it gets much larger, so was looking for people's experiences with this species :) they don't seem to be very active, at least during the day, haven't seen any of them all day.
