So I have a 1" down pipe and a 3/4" return is this the type of ball valve I need for my sump piping?! Never done my own plumbing before or done a sump. So taking my time and want to do it right for my new 55. Also my 3/4" is too big for my return pump what can I do to make the 3/4" pvc piping fit in it tightly? Mistake already drilling without checking the size for the return but have to live with my mistake and now looking for a fix! Thank you!!

That should work. You can get all sizes of reducers best way is to take the pump with you to Lowe's

Yup that will work. I would suggest spending a little more and getting Union Ball Valves for easy disassembly. Once you glue these things, that's it.

For valves under a stand...

For your return pipes try using true union ball valves, the grey dark gray with red hangle or regular gate valves.

The white and red ball valves are a bit hard to turn and if done incorrectly on a return line one could move the return pipe microscopically and cause a leak at the return, overflow fittting.

If installing far away from the overflow, using two hands, one to hold pvc pipe firmly and the other to turn the white valve ball works

Union Ball Valve kills 2 birds with one stone. The amount you pay for the union and separate ball valve is just about the same cost as a union ball valve....

Agreed. I'm switching mine from the first type the OP showed (it was all my local hardware store carried) to the union ball valve for exactly that reason.

Thank you! Glad I didn't order that one yet. Going to spend the extra and get the union ball valve.

True union valves are the best I use them in wastewater plants and water treatment plants and on my tank lol
