Should I put a ball valve right here?? To quiet down my noise sump

Is that your only drain? If it’s your only drain you should never restrict it with a valve or anything else because if it gets clogged it could cause a flood. If you have another drain that is higher than this one in the tank then you could install a valve to so this drain runs at a full siphon.

Additionally, it’s a little hard to tell in the picture, but it looks like the drain ends several inches above the water line in the sump. If you extend the drain so it goes an inch or two below the water line that will quiet any waterfall noise (and reduce salt spray).

Yes but should be careful. Slowing it down enough for it to become down syphon from ur over flow will make it almost silent but that will also be close to the max down drain rate so if for whatever reason a clog causes a slow down it could overflow ur tank. If you have a backup drain it will eliminate that risk.

It’s a Durso, and 1 drain. Water is shooting out cause a hot tub jet effect

If you just have a single drain then you really shouldn’t install a valve or you are likely to get a flood at some point. You might be able to turn the return into a second drain and then plumb the return over the back of the tank.

How would I quiet this drain then. Drill the hole bigger on the top of the Durso ?

Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of options for a single drain. Your best bet is probably what I suggested above - replumbing the return as a second drain and then running the return over the back of the tank.

If your drain ends above the water line then extending it so it ends an inch or two below the water line can also help with noise.

Alternately you could reduce the flow. If you have a DC return pump you could try to dial it down a little so there’s less water flowing through the system. If you have an AC return pump then you could install a valve on the return line to reduce the flow.

I think that’s what I’m going to
Do actually and run the return over the tank.. I can’t with this noise.. could y’all help me piece together I want to run a flexible hose of some sort to reduce vibration and then I’d just need to attach 2 elbows over the back of the tank I’m assuming
