Ballist help

I need a little help. I bought a Geismann nova 2 pendant 150 watt pendant from a member. It does not come with a ballist. I need help on what kind of ballist to get. Can someone help me with a link? Not sure if I need a magnetic or a electronic. The fixture is wired with a plug. Do I cut the plug off and wire nut the wires together? Help would be greatly appreciated.

You want a electric or pulse start magnetic... Probe starts can only fire a couple bulbs... Look into the electronics for best efficacy...

Marine depot has a coral vue 175 the sockets are the same on 150 and 175 iirc then you could run 175w lamps for more bulb choices..

If it was me I would buy an electronic ballast that is switchable up to 250. That way if you want to upgrade you will have the option. I just ordered galaxy ballasts from salty supply and they have great service and great prices.

^^ if you do that you would need a 250w bulb and socket.. Pretty much a full set up minus reflector... That's if you can squeeze a 250 in a 150 reflector not sure if you can or not...

I meant he could use it on the 175 setting for now and if in the future, if he wanted to do a 250 on a tank upgrade he would already be a ballast ahead
