Need some help. A friend gave me Banana Acropora Lokani frag. I am a reef newbie and couldn’t find much online. Any help on placement and care would be appreciated.
Thanks

Read up on Deepwater Acropora or Smooth Skinned Acropora. They really don't come from the deep, but people call them that. A. Lokani is one of those and will need to be treated like most of them, but I do find it hardier than most smoothies. Would like higher, full spectrum light with building blocks closer to natural levels, but don't have to be all the way there.

@jda said it all too well . If there was ever a couple of species of acropora that I only could keep , Acropora lokani and Acropora echinata would be up there for me .

Banana lokani name gets thrown a lot in the hobby but most of the ones I have seen claiming to be banana lokani often look like Acropora suharsoni to me . Banana lokani name was coined by Atlantis Aquarium a decade back I think .

If kept in daylight spectrum under strong lighting, they look absolute yellow - amazing gem !

I don’t know if this is banana, but I have colonies in high AND medium light (PAR 200-400) and they are both thriving. The colony in the lower light is larger but the higher one is brighter, almost unphotographable.

This was a first attempt at the high light so you’ll get what I mean
